Children's Advent Calendar
A
few days ago I prepared the kids reusable advent calendar, it was
decorated by a local lady a couple years ago but think you can get the
plain version from Hobbycraft. Although now there seems to be so many on
the market as previously I could never find one big enough to fit 3
chocolates in.
This
year though I've decided to try something new and add activities or
things written in as well. I designed them then laminated so that I can
reuse next year. I decided to do a mixture of actual events such as
visit Father Christmas, go to the school fair, sleepover at Grandma and
Grandads. Then some fun surprises like dance to Christmas music, Family
Games Night, watch a Christmas film etc. And also some to encourage
thinking about kindness like feed the birds, smile at everyone today,
make someone laugh - these are not compulsory, I wouldn't want my
children to feel it's forced but more of an idea they could do.
It took a bit of planning with the calendar so that on the days we are visiting Father Christmas it tells them or the same with the school fair. And some tasting the chocolate!

I
know the chocolates will be a success like every year but hoping these
little words will be fun (as well as getting my 6 year old to practice
reading them, and encourage my 4 year old to try). I know the
chocolates aren't the best eco-friendly choice but I'm still on the look
out for better ones that also doesn't cost too much as I have 24 days
with 3 children to fill for their calendar!
